In these critical times, recent attention has turned to new geotechnologies, including solar geoengineering that artificially reconditions the stratosphere by mitigating solar radiation. However, our climate issues are not simply meteorological problems with technical solutions but are entwined with socio-political and economic challenges requiring us to fundamentally see the world reimagined.
As a vibrant cultural hub in Toronto, OCAD University is participating in this year’s Nuit Blanche, an all-night free celebration of contemporary art taking place on October 5, with two unique and extraordinary events – one that will transform Canada’s Malting Silos into an aquatic temple and the second that will connect Toronto to a traditional mud hut in central Kenya for a live, 12-hour immersive cultural exchange.

A Learning Exchange presented in partnership with the Toronto Biennial of Art and the Ontario College of Art & Design University Library. Continuing the long-lasting tradition of DIY print circulation, the Toronto Biennial of Art (TBA) partners with Ontario College of Art and Design University Library to present a “Learning Exchange” through a selection of shared resources.

On Sat., Sept. 21, celebrate the history and community of the Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts as it opens its doors to the public to mark its 25th anniversary as an arts centre and home to year-round artist residency programs, events, and community programming. Coinciding with the event is the launch of an online auction to help raise funds for the centre, open until October 10.

This event is a chance for the OCAD U community to celebrate the award recipients and learn about their unique pedagogical insights and strategies that have made such a significant impact on students. Intramural opportunities to OCAD University students
Curated by Lauchlin MacQuarrie, with artist Dr. Pam Patterson and designer/author Mel Rapp, this exhibition explores tensions between visual distortion as generative and desirable, and the medical mapping that seeks to contain and define such distortion.
A group exhibition, curated by Phil Anderson and assisted by Madeleine Young, showcases a diverse range of traditional and contemporary sculptures by various artists, revisiting the gallery's rich history with the medium.
