<p>The RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD) is excited to announce the 8th annual Career Launcher Fund for graduating students. Emerging artists and designers are invited to apply for a funding opportunity relating to career supports and skills building as they transition out of school. </p>

Join our invited panelists as they delve into the transformative power of speculative reclamation, Afrofuturism, and Indigenous Futurism through their creative practices and artistic works. Experience firsthand how these powerful narratives transcend boundaries, empower agency, and carve spaces for cultural reclamation. Stay engaged with the live Q&A session moderated by the Onsite Gallery’s Programs & Community Coordinator, Susan Jama.

<p>Kelly Ross<strong style="box-sizing:border-box;"> </strong>leads a workshop for OCAD U Students and Alumni on how to do your taxes as an artist or designer. Topics covered include the difference between employee versus self-employed income, HST, business expense deductibles, and more.</p>

<p>Coffee Chats is a series of casual gatherings with the CEAD team with industry guests. Hosted in small intimate groups, these gatherings will provide a space for group conversations with practitioners who are interested in supporting OCAD U students and grads to offer mentorship, and share their professional insights and journey, while collectively creating a community.</p>

<p>Onsite Gallery presents its inaugural Black History Month annual guest lecture with curator Janet Dees. Trained as a historian of American art, Janet Dees’ curatorial work focuses on the ways in which contemporary artists engage with history and archives; artists’ interest in transformational practices; and inclusive museum methodologies. </p><p>The guest lecture is co-presented with the Centre for the Study of Black Canadian Diaspora</p>

<p>Join us for a public lecture by visiting scholar, Dr. Hannah McGregor, Associate Professor of Publishing, SFU on Thursday, February 15 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in the main auditorium of 100 McCaul St.<o:p></o:p></p><p>Grounded in the material concerns of working in postsecondary institutions, Dr. McGregor’s talk entitled “Caring Ferociously” will examine models of care ethics rooted in resistance movements, and explore how we might care ferociously, demonically, and disruptively. <o:p></o:p></p><p>The talk will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Dr. Michelle Miller and Dr. Lori Riva from the Faculty of Arts & Science, OCAD U.</p><p>This event is free and open to the entire OCAD U community and broader public. <o:p></o:p></p>
