Our Histories with Objects (February 2022)

This is a collaborative project between OCAD University in Toronto, Canada and Hongik University in Seoul, South Korea. Hongik University is a historic institution long known for pioneering and expanding art and design in South Korea. OCAD U is the largest and most comprehensive art, design and media university in Canada.

Inspired by the text Agency, biography and objects by Janet Hoskins, faculty members Immony Mèn (OCAD U), and Chris Ro (Hongik U) led students to examine objects and ideas that exist both within their local contexts but also share an identity internationally. After examination and research, the designer/artist teams then found various ways to express their discoveries through digital media. The resulting films express the collaboration and communication between two programs, two cities and multiple cultures and backgrounds as one project. Our Histories with Objects, is set to screen at Gladstone House for Spring of 2022.
