Headshot of Madeline Collins

Madeline Collins bio:

Madeline Collins (she/her) is a contemporary curator, writer, and artist based in Tkarón:to/Toronto. Her practices principally explore identity-making and worldbuilding in queer-of-colour imaginaries, diasporic theory, and the visioning of “worlds otherwise”. She holds a Master's in contemporary art history from OCAD University, where her thesis research considered space and time as frameworks for the (un)making of Black diasporic identity. Her publications include the podcast Unboxing the Canon and articles in Journal of Curatorial Studies, Senses & Society, Economía Creativa, and RACAR. Madeline currently serves as an assistant at the Centre for the Study of Black Canadian Diaspora.

Website

Studio Magazine offers perspectives on contemporary Canadian craft and design within global material culture. Published twice a year with an ongoing web presence, Studio is the Canadian platform for conversations and explorations about making: from historical and theoretical contexts for craft and design, to questions of materiality, community, and the place of makers in the world. Studio is published in Toronto by Craft Ontario.

Working closely with the Managing Editor, the intern will get direct, practical experience with how a nationally distributed arts magazine comes together: editorial prep and copyediting, production administration, web publishing, and editorial planning. Some social media content creation is also part of the role. Congratulations to Madeline Collins for receiving this opportunity!
