Jason Lujan

Jason Lujan is an artist working in an expanded practice incorporating sculpture, installation, digital imaging, and painting, as well as curatorial projects. As an artist he creates things that realize his lived environment, connecting it to larger global experiences, to generate new meanings. He is a co-founder of Native Art Department International, a collaborative project with his wife, artist Maria Hupfield.
His solo and collaborative work has been exhibited at the Heard Museum (Phoenix), Amon-Carter Museum (Fort Worth), Smithsonian Museum (Washington DC), MKG127 (Toronto), Patel Brown (Toronto, Montreal), New York City Center for Book Arts, Denver Art Museum, with fair presentations at The Armory Show (New York), Seasons (Detroit), Untitled (Miami), Dallas Art Fair, and Art Toronto. His work has been featured in publications including NPR, Art Forum, Art in America, C-Magazine, Hyperallergic, and The Paris Review.
He brings the experience of a 20 year career as an artist and arts administrator in New York City. Professionally, Lujan has contributed to, planned, and managed exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Dia Art Foundation, and the Park Avenue Armory. Associated projects involve assisting with fashion runway installations for Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, and Y3, among others.
Jason Lujan is originally from Marfa, Texas, and lives in Toronto. His practice has been supported by The Toronto Arts Council, and Ontario Arts Council; he is represented by MKG127 in Toronto.
