Changing Landscapes Symposium

North Baltica Contemporary Arts (NoBa) presents Changing Landscapes, a one-day international symposium examining how technology continues to transform contemporary textile and fibre art.

Date: November 22, 2025 | 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Ticketed event: Includes catered lunch, cocktails, and exhibition access

The symposium will bring together artists, scholars, and innovators from Canada, Europe, and the Americas to explore the ways digital tools are reshaping craft, creativity, and cultural identity. Through presentations, roundtables, and a hands-on workshop, participants will engage with the intersections of art and technology.

Moderated by Ilze Godlevskis, speakers include Vita Plume, Jacobo Alonzo, Beatrijs Sterk, Suzanne Carte, Nithikul Nimkulrat, and Deborah Wang, among others.

The symposium coincides with two concurrent exhibitions at The Cotton Factory:

November 7–December 7, 2025, Opening Reception: November 7 at 7 pm

An international group exhibition featuring 29 artists whose works merge traditional textile practices with digital innovation, exploring the intersection of craft, technology, and identity.

Showcasing emerging textile and fashion artists from Alberta University of the Arts, OCAD University, Toronto Metropolitan University, and Concordia University.
