Faculty of Art Student Monitor –
Events, Exhibitions & Project Assistant
The Faculty of Art (FoA) facilitates a variety of co-curricular projects, exhibitions, events, and community-engaged initiatives throughout the year. We are looking for Student Monitors to support the planning, production, and delivery of these projects.
This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event production, exhibition support, community engagement, promotion, and project coordination, while working alongside FOA staff, faculty, and fellow students.
Areas of Support
Depending on the project, Student Monitors may be involved in:
- Event logistics: supporting event preparation, coordination, and on-site operations
- Set-up & installation: preparing spaces, installing artworks or event materials, and assisting with event set-up
- De-installation & restoration: packing materials, removing installations, and returning spaces to their original condition
- Community engagement: welcoming participants and visitors, supporting workshops and public programs, and assisting with event activities
- Promotion & communications: distributing and preparing promotional materials, supporting social media, document the event when appropriate, or other outreach activities
Resource inventory: organizing, tracking, and maintaining event and exhibition supplies
Eligibility
We welcome students who are:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Art
- Reliable, organized, excited to learn, and able to follow direction
- Responsive and comfortable communicating quickly
- Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty
- Interested in events, exhibitions, arts administration, community engagement, or related areas
- Available to work occasional evening or extended hours, depending on project needs
Previous event or arts-related experience is an asset but is not required. We are interested in students who are responsible, engaged, and eager to gain practical experience.
Position Details
- Position: Student Monitor – Casual
- Compensation: $20.10 (As of October 1, 2026)
- Time commitment: Project-based; hours will vary depending on project needs (With flexibility, 4 hours per project can be guaranteed)
Supervision: Each project will be supervised by a Faculty of Art staff member or faculty lead, who will also provide direction regarding project tasks and administration.
