OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:
The RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers is excited to announce the Open Studio Printmaking Residency Career Launcher for OCAD U students. One (1) successful applicant will be awarded a Full Membership (1 year) with Open Studio ($216 value), a three month access pass to the facilities ($810 value) to be used in the Summer of 2025, $324 in credits to go towards materials, and flat file and locker rental ($180 value).The selected artist will work towards a self-directed final project during their time at Open Studio and give a presentation about their project at Open Studio in Fall 2026. This can be a talk, demo, or interactive and artists are encouraged to approach it in a creative way. An artist fee of $324 will be given for the presentation.
Open Studio is an Artist-Run Centre dedicated to contemporary print. They offer accessible, inclusive and affordable printmaking facilities, programs and services for artists and the public from across Canada and abroad. Open Studio’s priority is to support artists in the creation and exhibition of contemporary print in an open-minded, safe and collaborative environment. Their facility supports various printmaking techniques, including screenprinting, lithography and intaglio/relief printing. Open Studio opens the door to printmaking through our studio facilities, education programming, residencies, scholarships, exhibitions and public art installations.
RESIDENCY OUTLINE:
One (1) successful candidate will receive:
- Full Membership (1 year) to Open Studio ($216 value)
- 3-month rental access pass for Open Studio’s facilities to be used in Summer 2025. ($810 value) Studio facilities are accessible 24/7 for pre-approved studio users once they have received a studio orientation. Visit Open Studio’s website for full details.
- $324 in credit towards materials at Open Studio
- Flat file and locker rental during the duration of the residency ($180 value)
- $324 artist talk fee in Fall 2026
One (1) additional candidate will receive:
- Full Membership (1 year) to Open Studio ($216 value)
- 1-month rental access pass for Open Studio’s facilities to be used in Summer 2025. ($270 value)
- Flat file and locker rental during the duration of the residency ($180 value)

ELIGIBILITY:
- Current OCAD U undergraduate students who have completed 15+ credits and will be graduating in 2026,
- or current OCAD U Master's students graduating in 2026.
*Priority may be given to applicants who have not previously received a Career Launcher opportunity
