OCAD University is accepting nominations for 2025 honorary doctorate degree recipients. Degrees which will be presented at Convocation in June 2025.
An honorary doctorate degree is the highest honour OCAD U offers. Honorary degrees are presented to outstanding and inspiring individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the fields of art, design, culture, education and to the ideals of OCAD U.
Among past recipients are Kat Holmes, who has been recognized internationally as a leader of inclusive design; Rosemary Sadlier, one of the original driving forces in securing the commemoration of February as Black History Month; Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller, who are internationally renowned for their ground-breaking collaborative media works, audio walks and installations; award-winning architect Siamak Hariri; Newfoundland-based multi-media artist Michael Massie, CM, RCA, who channels his diverse Inuit, Métis and Scottish heritage into his creations; Norman Triplett White, Canada’s leading visionary in the field of electronic and robotic art; and urban planner, activist and philanthropist Judy Matthews.
Deadline for nominations
Faculty, staff, students and alums are invited to submit the names of those individuals who are deserving of an honorary doctorate degree by Friday, January 24, 2025, 5 p.m. EST.
Nominations may be made through an online nomination form.
