Legal Resource for Indigenous Artists & Designers

We are thrilled to announce the launch of "Legal Considerations for Indigenous Artists & Designers: An introductory guide," a collaborative effort between OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD), the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH), CARFAC Ontario, and Artists’ Legal Advice Services (ALAS)

This comprehensive guide provides essential legal information and peer support for Indigenous artists across diverse disciplines.

A special thank you and Chi-Miigwetch to Natalie King of Timiskaming First Nation for using artistic expression to portray this project, and to Brenda MacIntyre - Medicine Song Woman (Cree/Ojibwe ancestry with Red River roots), for her voice and guidance throughout the development of this resource. We deeply appreciate both contributor’s talents and contributions.

A big shoutout and thank you to EQ Bank for sponsoring this resource, as well as the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts, and the Government of Ontario for your dedicated support. Your commitment to this project has made a significant difference.
