We're excited to announce Lia Aiello as the recipient of the 2023 Contemporary Textile Studio Co-op Residency Career Launcher!

Lia Aiello is a Toronto based textile designer. Her practice focuses on weaving, natural dye and surface design. Playfully interpreting sociological concepts, she designs textiles with the same bizarre profoundness as the dreams you have in the morning between your first and second alarms.

The Contemporary Textile Studio Co-operative was started in 2006 by a group of textile artists wanting an affordable and properly equipped studio space, and a home for the promotion of textile arts and design in Toronto. The cooperative is located in a well-known cultural hub that is home to many galleries and artist-run centres. Their working studio is a prime 1200 square foot space on the first floor of the historic 401 Richmond Street West building where members and friends produce work, teach, learn, interact, and innovate with other designers, artists, student, and the community.
