Research Talks featuring Suzanne Stein

Join us for the March edition of Research Talks, featuring Suzanne Stein.

In this talk - Evolving Foresight: Designing Futures of Care, Creativity, and Civic Imagination - Suzanne Stein talks about rapidly shifting foresight scholarship and practice —and how OCAD U researchers are helping drive this evolution. This talk presents an overview of Professor Stein's current research examining how futures methods are co‑evolving through creativity, compassion, and emerging democratic practices. Drawing on the Futures of Creativity & Compassion conference, the evolving foresight and futures skills work developed through the Dubai Futures Forum, and the annual Democracy Futures workshops initiative, Stein discusses how participatory design, ‘jailbreak' methods, and creative deliberation open new directions for foresight pedagogy and civic imagination. The session invites reflection on interdisciplinary collaboration and OCAD University’s critical role in shaping inclusive, responsible futures.

Speaker Bio: Suzanne Stein is a tenured Associate Professor at OCAD University, Strategic Foresight Advisor to Graduate Studies, and Director of the Super Ordinary Laboratory.
