OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD) invites you to join multidisciplinary entrepreneur, financial strategist, and founder of StoryBee, Mario Xu in an interactive workshop on how to find funding for your business. Mario will walk through several funding portals including the federal government’s Business Benefits Finder and share opportunities relevant to emerging entrepreneurs.

Individuals will have the opportunity to search for funding tailored to their business and receive mentorship from Mario. We ask that you bring a device that can access a web browser and a sense of the type of business you’re building.

Refreshments will be available. 

About Mario Xu

Mario (Jia Yi) Xu is a multidisciplinary entrepreneur, financial strategist, and founder of StoryBee, an open access platform that brings beautifully illustrated curriculum-based picture books and engaging learning activities to children around the world. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from McMaster University and a Master’s degree from Harvard University. As a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Investment Manager, Mario has nearly a decade of experience in banking and wealth management. Motivated by his passion for democratizing education, Mario made the transition from finance to creative education by launching StoryBee. His mission is to make knowledge accessible, beautiful, and meaningful for all learners. Mario actively mentors emerging creative talents and shares his expertise in business development, project management, and innovative educational design. He is also an executive team member of Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs Canada. Mario is dedicated to empowering others to bridge creativity with sustainable business practices and to making a positive difference in the world.
