Samarth Reddy

One of the most influential parts of my creative journey was my work at the ACE Lab and my graduate thesis research with Dr. Alexis Morris at OCAD University. Working with him transformed the way I approach creativity, research, and learning. Instead of simply giving answers, he encouraged curiosity, exploration, and the confidence to figure things out independently. That way of thinking stayed with me long after graduation.

Because of those experiences, I became more comfortable stepping into unknown territories and experimenting without fear of failure. I learned that some of the most meaningful discoveries happen when you allow yourself to explore openly and trust the process. That mindset pushed me to work across disciplines, question assumptions, and constantly keep learning.

OCAD U gave me the freedom and space to experiment creatively, while the mentorship and environment around me made that exploration feel possible and exciting. My time there genuinely changed my outlook on both life and creative practice. I left with a much more open perspective, not only as a designer and researcher, but also as a person who is more curious, adaptable, and willing to take risks.

One of my favourite memories at OCAD U was taking the elective DIGF-400 Applied Generative AI course taught by Dr. Alexis Morris. Every week felt exciting because the field of AI was evolving so quickly. There were always new models, new research papers, and new ideas emerging, and I remember going into class eager to explore everything that had happened that week. The classes were incredibly engaging, energetic, and fun. Looking back, those moments captured the spirit of discovery that defined my experience at OCAD U: a place where curiosity was encouraged and learning felt alive.
