OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers is excited to announce recruited placements in partnership with The Community for 6-month internship roles in Copywriting, Design, Spatial Design, and Motion Graphics.

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIP STREAMS:

Copywriting Intern

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on ads, social content, branded experiences.
  • Draft and polish headlines, taglines, scripts, and social copy.
  • Contribute in brainstorming sessions.
  • Assist with client presentations and internal pitches.

You bring:

  • Enrolled in Advertising, Copywriting, or similar
  • Strong storytelling instincts and attention to tone and voice.
  • Portfolio or samples of written work.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a collaborative spirit.

Design Intern

Responsibilities:

  • Support visual campaigns across print, digital, and social.
  • Aid in branding, layout, and asset creation.
  • Adapt designs to different platforms and formats.
  • Participate in moodboarding and creative ideation.

You bring:

  • Enrolled in Graphic Design, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Keen eye for typography, layout, and brand consistency.
  • A portfolio showcasing design versatility and aesthetic.

Spatial Design Intern

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing physical and experiential spaces.
  • Produce moodboards, renderings, and schematic diagrams.
  • Support material selection and prototyping.
  • Work closely with experiential and real estate teams.

You bring:

  • Enrolled in Environmental Design, Interior Design, or related.
  • Experience with SketchUp, CAD, or similar tools.
  • Strong sense for spatial storytelling and environmental aesthetics.
  • Passion for immersive, place-based experiences.

Motion Graphics Intern

Responsibilities:

  • Design and animate engaging 2D/3D content.
  • Create dynamic social videos, explainer snippets, animated presentations.
  • Assist in storyboarding, scene building, and post-production.
  • Collaborate with art directors, copywriters, and editors.

You bring:

  • Enrolled in Animation, Motion Design, Multimedia or related.
  • Skilled in After Effects and Premiere (plus Cinema 4D or similar is a bonus).
  • A reel or samples demonstrating motion storytelling and timing.
  • Willingness to experiment and learn across platforms.

RATE:

$26 - $30/hour

TERM:

Full-time for 6-months starting in May 2026.

Exact start date TBD once candidate has been selected

LOCATION:

Toronto (in office, 5 days per week)

ELIGIBILITY:
 

  • Current OCAD U undergraduate students in any discipline who have completed 15+ credits and will be graduating in 2026, 
  • or current OCAD U Master's students graduating in 2026
  • Full-time availability for 6 months (Summer through Fall 2026).
  • Available to work in Toronto 

**Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received a Career Launcher opportunity

OCAD U x SickKids Research Institute Exhibition - Call for Artists

OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD) and The Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute (SickKids RI) have partnered to co-create an exhibition in the Great Hall at OCAD University on November 16-27, 2026. The CEAD and SickKids RI are inviting emerging artists to submit existing works for consideration. The responding artworks to be curated will be in dialogue with captivating scientific images or videos from SickKids Research Institute. 7-9 successful artists will each be paid a $500 Artist Fee.
