OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:
OCAD U’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD) and Student Galleries have partnered to co-create a Career Launcher for an emerging arts & culture professional. The opportunity will select one individual to work with the curators/organizers on a part-time basis and support the development, staging and activation of an upcoming special exhibition to coincide with OCAD University’s 150th anniversary.
This special exhibition will involve 15 alumni artists/designers and be mounted across various student gallery spaces (eg. Ignite Gallery, Ada Slaight Gallery) from November 2026 – February 2027.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support elements of the project coordination, administration and communication work with the organizers, exhibiting artists/designers and other stakeholders as needed
- Assist with efforts around developing the physical features of the exhibition, including preparing walls, mounts, signage, didactics, etc. (experience with using power tools and ladders and painting is an asset)
- Help receive all works and participate in the installation of the exhibition
- Facilitate exhibition documentation with photographer/videographer
- Create a marketing presence for the exhibition, including ongoing content development for social media and websites
- Activate the exhibition through internal and external outreach and engagement, eg. creating, promoting and leading tours
- Involvement in de-installation of the exhibition and return of artworks
KEY DATES:
- August 3 - Applicant intake deadline
- August 4 - 31 – Applicant reviews, interviews and selection
- September – Role starts, project briefing and scope defined
- November 26, 2026 – February 14, 2027 – Exhibition period

ELIGIBILITY:
- Current OCAD U undergraduate students with 15+ credits at the time of application who will be returning to school in 2026-27
- Current OCAD U Graduate students who will be returning to school in 2026-27
COMPENSATION:
This opportunity will carry a project fee of $2,750 and will encompass a total of approximately 100 total hours of work mapped out across September 2026 – February 2027.
