Ginette Legare

Ginette Legaré is a visual artist born in Quebec City and based in Toronto. Her artistic practice focuses on the instrumentalist and documentary possibilities of recovered objects through their potential to embody, subvert, or suggest meaning. Over the years, her mixed-media constructs and installations have explored the social, cultural, and perceptual contexts that inform such objects' material relations and transformations.
Legaré holds a BFA from Laval University and an MFA from York University and is a Professor Emerita at OCAD University. She is a former member of Cold City Gallery and Mercer Union’s Board of Directors and has served as an advisor and juror for several arts organizations and public art commissions. Her artworks have been shown throughout Canada and internationally and have been the subject of reviews and essays in numerous publications. They are included in public, corporate, and private collections, and are currently available at Art Mûr in Montreal and MKG127 in Toronto.
