The challenge for the ‘Hackathon for Science Education’ run by Pueblo Science was to create a robotics-based science activity kit for high school students in Guyana. Here is the link for more information regarding the event: https://puebloscience.org/hackathon/

"The event brought together 50 innovative students with scientists, engineers and educators as mentors. The students and mentors worked to create kits that will teach aspects of robotics to high school students in low-resource communities around the world. The projects were presented in front of an expert judging panel on Sunday, September 22nd, 2019."

Grad Students Yasaman Rohanifar (Masters in Computer Science (UofT), Omid Ettehadi (Masters in Digital Futures (OCAD), Nahin Shah (Masters in Inclusive Design(OCAD), and Erman Akyol (Masters in Inclusive Design (OCAD), designed a 3-day curriculum for the teachers in Guyana. The first session will teach the students the basic concepts of programming (flowcharts and algorithms, loops, and if statements), for the second day, tasks will be given to assemble the robot (by providing a pre-made PCB), and experiment with some pre-written functions in the Arduino IDE with the option to write codes themselves; program the micro-processor and see what their program does with the robot.
