David Griffin: Music of Surfaces

Introduction of Music of Surfaces from David:

My work over the past years has been driven by the desire for a ‘visual music’ -- a playful bridge between sound and vision. Building that bridge, I have pulled apart music notations, seeking to understand how we use their simple 2-D geometry to create such complex, affective '4-D' performances as we perform for each other. And growing out of that preoccupation I have recently come to explore geometric drawing, diagrams, and diagrammatic reasoning in my studio, wherein I ask some loose questions about organic principles of growth, and other elemental forces. The drawings in this exhibition use geometry and colour to propose reasonable answers to absurd questions.

This is my first exhibition since March 2020, and I would like to invert the social distance formula: nobody should be further than 6 feet away from each other.
