OCAD U President issues statement on anti-Black racism

Updated: June 10, 2020

President Dr. Sara Diamond makes statement on anti-Black racism for graduands of OCAD University’s 2020 Virtual Convocation

Recent events across North America continue to show us how prevalent systemic racism is in our society. I want to acknowledge the deep pain and hurt that members of the Black community must be feeling at this very difficult time.

At OCAD University, we share a profound collective moment of grief with the members of the Black community, and in particular with our own faculty, staff and students.

Anti-Black racism has no place in our society. At OCAD University, we remain committed to addressing all forms of racism and to ensuring that our community is safe, supportive, respectful and inclusive.
