Each year, the Night of Ideas is an invitation to celebrate the sharing of knowledge and ideas between countries and cultures around the world, embracing all disciplines, in the arts as well as in the sciences. It is an opportunity to reflect on the major issues of our time. The 2023 edition of the Night of Ideas will be held on February 1 on the theme "More ?" in partnership between the French General Consulate of Toronto, OCAD-U, and the Alliance Française. "More?" : at a time of global warming, the theme allows us to explore the question of the place taken by the dynamics of accumulation in our modernity and consumer society, considered as much from the ecological point of view as from the social, psychological or ethical. It is therefore "the more through the less" that we would like to explore during this Night of Ideas, by inviting artists, philosophers, researchers, creators or companies to reflect together on ways of doing things that privilege the diverse, the humble, the human and the earth.
Chaque année, la Nuit des idées est une invitation à célébrer le partage des savoirs et des idées entre les pays et les cultures du monde entier, en embrassant toutes les disciplines, dans les arts comme dans les sciences. Elle est une occasion de réfléchir sur les grands enjeux de notre temps. L’édition de la Nuit des idées 2023 se tiendra le 1er février sur le thème « Plus ? » en partenariat entre le Consulat général de France à Toronto, OCAD-U, et le réseau des Alliances françaises. «Plus ? » : interrogation d’abord liée à la planète, à l’heure du réchauffement climatique, la thématique permet notamment d’explorer la question de la place prise par les dynamiques d’accumulation comme ressorts essentiels de notre modernité et de la société de consommation, envisagée tant du point de vue écologique que social, psychologique ou éthique. C’est donc « le plus par le moins » que nous voudrions explorer lors de cette Nuit des idées, en invitant artistes, philosophes, chercheurs, créateurs ou entreprises, à réfléchir ensemble aux façons de faire qui privilégient le divers, l’humble, l’humain et la terre.
