Journaling Club

Journaling Club

What is this?

The idea of Journaling Club came from a group of students lamenting on how they always have unfinished sketch books, diaries, notebooks, journals etc. And how those stark blank pages can be intimidating amongst all your intimate scribbles.

We decided to meet on Tuesdays, created some guidelines to avoid unnecessary crit, and gave ourselves permission to fill the pages with whatever came to mind. We made collages, shared poems, wrote little secret kind notes in each other’s journals to find later.

Journaling Club wasn’t so much a club but a feeling. We’d put on music (mostly the best of destiny’s child), we’d all zone in and out of convo, just happy to be there sharing company, feeling like we were actually doing something and belonged somewhere.

So unfortunately and obviously, that kind of intimate writing/creating space is not possible during social distancing. And maybe that’s ok- maybe Journaling Club was always just a feeling.

Who can come?

Since Journaling Club is a collection of prompts to inspire creativity, self-reflection, and maintain a writing practice... all are welcome. If you're reading about it, you're encouraged to participate.

Where is the club?

You can find us social media and on Microsoft Teams, search for our public channel where prompts are posted each Tuesday. Channel: Team_Journaling Club
