๐•ฅโ„๐”ผ๐•šโ„ ๐”น๐•ƒ๐•Œ๐”ผ explores the culture and history of Miao Batik, along with herstories of Miao women. Miao Batik is one of the Intangible Cultural Heritages of China and most of its inheritors are Miao women. The Miao are one of the 55 recognized ethnic minorities in China. For more than two millennia of Miao Batikโ€™s existence, it has been a skill passed down through generations of Miao women. They used wax to draw on cloth as dye-resistant and dyed the cloth with indigo, later boiling the wax off to attain meaningful patterns on blue cloth. Through this art form, theyโ€˜ve depicted the cultural and historical journey of the Miao people, captured their life consciousness, and conveyed hopeful wishes for future generations. The exhibition invites you to read, touch, smell, watch, listen, and feel the stories of Miao Batik culture, Miao women, and the artist.
