Lecture Capture

OCAD U IT Services provides lecture capture services via TechSmith Relay for faculty who wish to share lectures and presentations with their class via Canvas.

How to Request This Service

The service is ready to use for all faculty. The TechSmith Relay Recorder application is installed on all OCADU loaner computers and classroom lectern computers. If you require TechSmith Relay for a different computer, you can download it from our TechSmith Relay page. You’ll find the Recorder under the Create button, choose Download Recorders. This is a video that shows you how the TechSmith Relay Recorder works (don’t worry, it’s only 3 minutes long).  

Once you have a video on the TechSmith Relay service, you can post it in Canvas. Instructions for how to post to Canvas can be found in this IT Services Knowledgebase Article.

There is no charge to the user for this service.




  • Support requests can be accommodated Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • Techsmith Relay is available at all times with the exception of planned and unplanned service interruptions. Planned service interruptions are communicated in advance.
