  • NEW: if a book is checked-in, you can now select the "Request Item" button from the library catalgoue; we will hold the book for you for up to five days, but be sure to come to the library to sign the book out as there is a $3.00 fine for books that haven't been retrieved. As this process requires staff time and takes the book out of circulation (without being signed-out) it is important to respect the terms of this beneficial service for library users.
  • Use My Account to renew library materials (unless you have fines or overdue items).
  • If items are overdue; stop by the circulation/check-out desk to renew items.
  • A note on fines: we are eager to sign out books so that all researchers can take them to their own study spaces to use them to create and learn. Signing out books is an agreement between you and the library, so if a library item is returned late, we are unable to make it accessible to any other researcher. Help us keep our library collections free and opened to all researchers; respect the loan agreements with the OCAD U Library and you can avoid EVER having to pay any fines at all! For more information see: Borrowing Library Materials

Borrowing from other libraries (Direct borrowing)

With a valid ID card, OCAD U students, staff and faculty are able to borrow circulating materials in-person from other university libraries in Canada with the exception of any University of Toronto Library which introduced fees for direct borrowers.

All policies and procedures for the lending library, including penalties and fines, will apply. For more information on-site direct borrowing see Canadian University Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement
