OCAD U announces a new Sick Days Bursary for students

In recognition of the front-line essential work conducted by our students, OCAD University is pleased to now offer a Sick Days Bursary aimed at mitigating the financial impacts of taking time away from work to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Students who do not have paid sick days through their employers and need time off work for illness, COVID testing, self-isolation or vaccine appointments can apply for support through OCAD U Financial Aid & Awards.

Eligibility
All current students are eligible to apply. Students do not need to be registered in the spring/summer academic term but must be returning in the fall or be graduating in June 2021.

Funding available
OCAD U aims to fund all reasonable requests that meet the basic eligibility requirements. Individual bursary amounts will depend on the number of hours regularly worked in a day.

How to apply
Complete the Sick Days Bursary form. If students have not previously provided direct deposit information, they will also need to complete the Non-Payroll Direct Deposit Agreement and provide a void cheque/bank deposit letter.

Students will need to re-apply each week
OCAD University will review applications every Friday. Submissions are required by end-of-day each Thursday. Payment will be issued the following week for all approved applicants, provided direct deposit information has been submitted.

As always, if you are in an emergency situation, contact Financial Aid & Awards for urgent assistance.
