OCAD U Students! This year's Spring/Summer Section of DRPT-3007 Painting: Portraiture taught by Drawing and Painting Chair Ilene Sova will be partnering with students from Contemporary Art and Globalization (ARTH 250) Course at State University of New York at Geneseo. This unique international collaboration will pair students with young emerging curators and museum practitioners to create an online virtual gallery of their work from the course. Students will also receive guest lectures on Contemporary Portrait Painting from Professor Dr. Alla Myzelev from SUNY as well as their studio instruction on how to paint impactful portraits from Ilene Sova.
Course Description: DRPT-3007 Painting: Portraiture (0.5 Credits) Various approaches to portraiture are explored in relation to issues of identity, figuration, and self-representation. Using a range of painting materials and methods, students work from life and further their understanding of the anatomy of the human body and gesture. Slide demonstrations, support students' contextual understanding of both historical and contemporary approaches to portraiture. Students with credit in DRPT-3B16 may not take this course for credit.
