Special Announcement!

Drawing and Painting now have our own DRPT RE-USE DEPOT placed in room 475 in 100 McCaul.

This new initiative is part of our mission to change the culture of waste in our department and work on the goals outlined Principle #3 Sustainability of the Academic Plan

What we need from you....

Please strongly encourage your students to use it when:

  • when they are experimenting and trying new ideas/processes
  • when you want them to be creative and problem solve in new ways
  • when you are teaching about sustainability and upcycling in art practices
  • when they have come to class and have forgotten their materials
  • when they are out of money and need materials

Please add to the shelf as you are spring cleaning or Kondo-ing!

The following items can be dropped at the RE-USE DEPOT for all to use for free!

  • Artist materials that you bought but never used
  • Canvases / Panels and substrates that people can re-gesso or restretch for their next work of art
  • Lightly used art materials that are not quite finished but would be a treasure for someone else in the community
  • Collage materials: old magazines, old books, fabrics, textured papers and plastics
  • Half used sketchbooks, notebooks, and loose paper
  • Anything else that you think our students can be creative and make art with!

NOTE

1) If your students abandon artist materials in a classroom; when DRPT monitors clean classrooms they will take it to the Re-use Depot for upcycling

2) Encourage students at end of the year locker cleanouts or end of class material purges to take their items to the Re-use Depot!!
