Congratulations to President Emerit Dr. Sara Diamond

OCAD University congratulates President Emerit Dr. Sara Diamond, who was awarded an Honorary Degree at Humber College's convocation ceremony on June 13. Dr. Diamond was President and Vice-Chancellor of OCAD U for 15 years.

An honorary degree from Humber College recognizes and honours exceptional individuals whose personal and professional accomplishments serve as an inspiration to its graduates. 

Dr Diamond’s “lifelong commitment to education, research, innovation and the arts has left an indelible mark,” said Humber College President and CEO Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan.

“Her efforts and commitment to diversity and inclusion, the arts, technology and innovation make her an ideal recipient as she embodies all the qualities Humber strives to teach its students,” said Dr. Vaughan.

About Dr. Sara Diamond

Dr. Diamond is an artist, researcher and leader in the field of digital media and design. As the President and Vice-Chancellor of OCAD U, Dr. Diamond played a pivotal role in advancing Canada's creative economy. 

She led OCAD U’s transition to full university status as a creative practice and research institution with capacities in digital futures, Indigenous knowledge and decolonization, inclusive design, design for health and diversity. 

Her work as an artist has been shown in exhibitions and major galleries around the world including at the National Gallery of Canada, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Vancouver Art Gallery. She is also an award-winning artist and documentary producer.

While serving as Artistic Director of Media and Visual Art and Director of Research at The Banff Centre for more than a decade, she created and led the Banff New Media Institute, an international think tank, incubation and production hub.
