Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s OCAD U Pollinator Photo Exhibit!
Did you know that the Greater Toronto Area is home to over 350 native bee species alone? That’s in addition to the many other pollinators such as birds, butterflies, bats, and beetles. Biodiversity is beautiful!

The online photo exhibit showcases inspired observations of the wide diversity of pollinators that hold up our intricate web of life help to promote the valuable ecosystem services provided by pollinators. This is necessary as a step towards addressing the issue of declining pollinator populations.

Photos were judged by gardeners Heather Evelyn (Learning Zone) and Elaine Chan-Dow (Faculty of Art). Keeping in mind that capturing a pollinator pollinating is challenging, especially a bee, the winning picture captured the pollinating details perfectly while technically sound.

Congratulations to Ryan Whyte for submitting the winning photo of the "European honey bee (Apis mellifera), familiar and beloved, but increasingly outcompetes native pollinators". Ryan will receive a prize pack from Beam Paints, sponsored by the Office of Diversity, Equity & Sustainability Initiatives (ODESI). All participants will receive a one-of-a-kind Sun Print by Faculty of Art instructor Elaine Chan-Dow.
