On March 20, [OCAD U LiVE](https://www.ocadu.ca/student-services/ocad-u-live), OCAD University’s experiential learning program for content creators, is hosting its inaugural public screening of films produced through the Short Film Grant.

Launched in September 2023, the [Short Film Grant](https://www.ocadu.ca/student-services/ocad-u-live/opportunities/grants) supports the creation of original content by providing OCAD U students with funding to create and promote short films, documentaries, music videos, animation or augmented/virtual reality content. Three recipients are chosen each year. The grant is an example of how OCAD U contributes to the Canadian creative economy by nurturing the creative talent of students and alums.

LiVE is OCAD U’s experiential learning program for video content creation, featuring a content creator studio where students are paid to learn how to create their own shows, and a production house where experienced students create videos for real-world clients.

The screening will take place from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. in the auditorium at 100 McCaul St. (MCA 190) on OCAD U’s campus. Guests will enjoy six short films produced by grant recipients.

The event will also feature a special screening of *Rock Is Dead*, a TV pilot written by OCAD U LiVE alum and Creating Writing graduate Avi Sol. *Rock Is Dead* follows an ambitious group of young musicians who strive to be the next big sound in the rock music industry.

The free screenings will be followed by a live Q&A session with the filmmakers. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
