Mass Hypnosis: an experiment in printmaking as a collective, immersive and time-based medium. For the duration of the show, the participating artists (OCADU printmaking students and alumni) covered as much of the gallery space as possible with their screen-printed patterns. Printopolis artist-in-residence Stefan Hoffmann also participated, printing directly on the gallery windows. Pulsating, coloured lights lit the resulting collective mural, animating the coloured prints to music and live performances. An experiment in maximalism and neo-psychedelia, the aim of Mass Hypnosis was to create an audio-visual space where printmaking can be re-imagined.
Presented in conjunction with Printopolis , an international symposium on printmaking presented by Open Studio.
