We are thrilled to welcome Max Dean and Micah Lexier as our first guests for MAKING IT!

MAKING IT! is an interview series hosted by OCAD U students and alumni that explores the realities of the professional art world and what it takes to build a sustainable career as a working artist.

Max Dean is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto whose work spans photography, performance, video, sculpture, and installation. His practice explores the relationships between art, technology, and human experience. Throughout his decades-long career, Dean has exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale, and received the Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts in 2014.

Micah Lexier is a Toronto-based conceptual artist and curator whose practice encompasses sculpture, drawing, photography, public art, curation, and publishing. His work explores notions of identity and representation. Throughout his extensive career, Lexier has exhibited internationally and received the Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts in 2015.

Join us for an engaging conversation about the realities of building a career in the art world, and hear firsthand experiences and insights from a life in art.

Making connections, making art, making money. MAKING IT!
