SiteLines is a partnership between the Faculty of Art and Office of Research & Innovation at OCAD University and the Canada Council for the Arts, promoting and supporting the creative work of BIPOC artists and writers. The two-year pilot partnership supports the SiteLines series as well as a BIPOC mentorship program and an Indigenous Cultural Leadership initiative. SiteLines features a reading series held at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, as well as performances, workshops, master classes, and events that showcase BIPOC creatives. While the project is based at OCAD U, the focus is on communities outside the university and outside of Toronto as well. To that end, we have events planned from coast to coast, from Victoria to Corner Brook, and are working with affiliates in multiple centres.
For the SiteLines reading series, on March 20 we are hosting Suzanne Stewart and Stedman Pardy who will be reading from their work at Buddies starting at 7 pm. Future events in April and May will feature writers Arielle Twist, Ian Iqbal Rashid, and Julianne Okot Bitek.
