Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts

As part of the celebration to mark the 25th anniversary of the Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts, an artist residency and event space on Mnisiing/Toronto Island,  two auctions are being held, an online art auction and a silent auction, to help raise funds to support the centre.

 

The 25th Anniversary Celebration is on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Arts Centre, 443 Lakeshore Ave on Toronto Island, from 3 to 7 p.m.There is a free bus shuttle for guests from the Hanlans Point Docks at 2:45 pm with a 7:30 pm return.

 

For 25 years, the centre has served over 10,000 artists and writers by offering residency space on the Gibraltar Point shoreline, just a five-minute boat ride from the hustle of downtown Toronto—a truly unique feature of Toronto’s art scene.

ONLINE AUCTION

The online auction, launches on Saturday, September 21, 2024, coinciding with Gibraltar Point’s 25th Anniversary Celebration, and ends October 10, 2024. 

 

It features an incredible list of artists who have generously participated in this initiative to raise much-needed funds, including OCAD U grads and faculty members, including Ibrahim Abusitta, Stephen Andrews, Shary Boyle, Lisa Cristinzo, Laura Dawe, Dylan Glynn, Andrew Harding, April Hickox, Barbara Klunder, Brendan George Ko, Zachari Logan, Rachel MacFarlane, Shawn Skeir, Ilene Sova, Janna Watson and Alize Zorlutuna.

SILENT AUCTION

The silent auction takes place at the 25th Anniversary Celebration on Sept. 21. On offer: work by Island artists and Island-based experiences, including dinner and drinks at the Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, a boat cruise or two, guided tours of the Island community and the dunes, and a variety of workshops.
