Arts Etobicoke is a not-for-profit charitable organization that focuses on improving people’s lives through the arts. Arts Etobicoke is a place where everyone can freely express their art and culture through our programs, exhibitions, workshops, events, classes, and professional development. 

OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers is excited to announce a recruited placement in partnership with Arts Etobicoke for the role of Project Coordinator.

The Project Coordinator will join the Arts Etobicoke team to support their community art classes and outdoor events and workshops. This is a fantastic opportunity for OCAD U students interested in building skills in arts facilitation and education from a community-centered approach. The role will be a combination of remote and in-person work in Etobicoke. Arts Etobicoke offers programming in a variety of mediums for all ages and levels of interest, from professional to emerging artists, hobbyists to community seekers. Their programming is diverse in discipline and accessibly located throughout Etobicoke, providing opportunities for everyone to engage with the arts in whichever way they feel comfortable. 
 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting with workshop preparation such as set-up and clean-up, coordinating supplies, registering applicants, helping to administer contracts and acting as an ambassador for the organization and community
  • Working with a range of participants including seniors, children and individuals with special needs 
  • Supporting event logistics including working with volunteers, artist facilitators, vendors and the public 
  • Community outreach including engaging the public, liaising with Arts Etobicoke’s community network and working with the Communications Coordinator to promote events 
  • Assisting with program evaluation by documenting events and workshops, assisting the Community Research Coordinator, maintaining communication with Program Manager and AE Team. 
  • Acting as Health and Safety officer to ensure proper protocols are being followed for projects that require in-person gathering

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current OCAD U student in any discipline in their third or final year at the undergraduate level or any year at the Master’s level
  • Demonstrated skills to collaborate and work in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well both within a small team, and independently
  • Event and workshop facilitation experience is considered an asset but not required
  • Previous experience working with racialized and multicultural communities, or a relationship to the Etobicoke community would be considered an asset. Multilingual language skills would be considered an asset
  • Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received a Career Launcher opportunity

RATE: 

$22/hour. 30 hours per week
 

TERM:

Early June- mid September, 2023. 14 week term
*Exact start date to be determined with the selected candidate
