Advertising in an incredibly exciting area of study, in an industry of growing employment and technological opportunity.
A field that engages consumer experiences and influence is your area of focus and application. Advertising study at OCAD University encompasses 2D and 3D disciplines, embracing both traditional and new emerging technologies that are at the forefront of mass adoption and usage. It involves digital, analog, virtual and experiential platforms, integrating traditional forms of communication and usability with new user experiences and interfaces. The understanding and application of storytelling, from a brand point of view, is integral to your study in the four years at OCAD U.
The program is taught in a studio-based format by faculty who are Industry-acclaimed leaders, researchers and practitioners.
Exploring and applying learning in design, copywriting, typography, layout, strategy, consumer behaviours and storytelling, students create solutions for new and established brands, companies and communities, and push the limits in influencing messages and purchase adoption points across multiple channels, including web, mobile, television, print, installations and guerilla. The understanding of social, cultural, political, community and economic influence is paramount, and put to the test in fourth-year "real-world" applications, where students interact directly with top-tier brands and clients.
Students graduate after four years with a Bachelor of Design, potentially employed by brands, agencies and design firms in myriad positions.
The top Advertising alumni graduating from this program are very accomplished and in demand. Our graduates are well represented in key positions in communications, design and marketing in cities such as London, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Chicago, Hong Kong, all across Canada and the Americas.
