EAD Course Descriptions and Schedule
Discussion Topics in Visual Culture (non-credit)
This course will introduce you to Visual Culture concepts, theories and language, in preparation for your first-year Visual Studies courses. You will practice language skills such as listening for key points in lecture-style classes, researching and analyzing art works, and learning and using specialized vocabulary.
Art and Design Studio (non-credit)
This course will familiarize you with the types of art and design projects you will be doing in your first-year studio classes. You’ll gain academic skills and strategies for speaking and writing about your work and the work of your peers, and doing visual research, and learning and using art and design vocabulary.
Language Studio (non-credit)
This course will provide you with opportunities to further explore and practice the newly acquired language skills and academic strategies from your Visual Culture and Art and Design Studio Classes, and explore Canadian classroom culture(s), and writing, researching and presentation conventions (customs).
EAD includes gallery visits, cultural activities and other outings that will give you a chance to meet current OCAD U students and get to know Toronto.
July 2 to August 9, 2019, 5 days a week for 6 weeks.
