Simone Jones is a multi-media artist whose work combines moving images with electronics, kinetic sculpture and installation. Jones’ work has been exhibited at national and international venues including the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa), the Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto), the Musée d’art contemporain (Montréal) and the Ronald Feldman Gallery (New York). Jones has been the recipient of numerous grants for her work including the Canada Council for Arts, the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council. Recent invited residencies include the Emily Harvey Foundation in Venice, Italy and the Canadian Forces Artist Program (CFAP).
Simone Jones has served on the boards of InterAccess Electronic Media Centre and the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT). Jones is a currently serving on the board of Charles Street Video.
Jones is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Art and teaches in the Integrated Media Program as well as the Digital Futures Program. In addition, Jones actively engages with OCAD’s Graduate Studies Program and she has supervised IAMD students and DFI students. Jones is a proud alumna of the Ontario College of Art (1989) and she holds an MFA from York University (1996).
