Lanita Layton is the Managing Director of HUGO BOSS Canada, the Canadian arm of one of the world’s most highly recognized luxury clothing brands. With over 400 employees nationally and growing, Lanita is responsible for the company’s strategic direction, finances, as well as managing day-to-day corporate operations.
In her five years with HUGO BOSS, Lanita has enhanced the brand’s luxury positioning through significant retail store expansion and strategic wholesale partnerships. She has successfully managed to reposition the long established HUGO BOSS brand in the Canadian retail landscape while creating a profitable multi-channel organization.
Prior to joining HUGO BOSS, Lanita had a 10 year tenure with Holt Renfrew, Canada’s preeminent luxury specialty department store, and she has over 25 years’ experience in senior and executive positions in the fashion industry. Her experience, along with her strategic vision and business acumen, was immediately evident at Holt Renfrew where she got her start as a Divisional Merchandise Manager and quickly propelled her way up the corporate ladder to the position of Vice President. In this position, she took on responsibilities in areas such as menswear, gift and gourmet, shoes and accessories and children’s wear.
From the start, Lanita has always had a deep passion and understanding of luxury and premium branding and always remembered and stressed the importance of the “customer experience”. Her experiences, as well as her authentic and collaborative leadership style that inspires her teams to outpace expectations and “think outside the box” will undoubtedly result in her continued success in the fashion industry.Lanita was on the Volunteer Committee “One x One” Native Children’s Breakfast Program, the George Brown College Fashion Program Advisory Committee and is a member of the Retail Council of Canada. She studied commercial art at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
