Dr. John Semple is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto and Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Women’s College Hospital. He holds the Chair in Surgical Breast Cancer Research from the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. He is Co-Founder and Head of Innovation and Partnerships at QoC Health Inc., a health care technology company based in Toronto with active projects across Canada and internationally.
Previous positions held include Surgeon in Chief at Women’s College Hospital, Co-Founder and Director of the Advanced Regenerative Tissue Engineering Centre at the University of Toronto and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Board member on Women’s College Hospital Foundation, Outward Bound Canada, ARTEC and Past President of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Semple attended the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD University) and then completed a Bachelor of Science in Medical Illustrating (Art as Applied To Medicine) at the University of Toronto. Dr. Semple has a special interest in the development of affordable and appropriate mobile technology for solving problems in health care.
