David Holland is the Former President and Chief Executive Officer of Torstar Corporation. Torstar Corporation is a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange with media operations. The media operations are comprised of the Star Media Group which includes the Toronto Star, Canada’s largest daily newspaper, thestar.com and Toronto Star Touch; the Metro chain of free English language daily newspapers in 6 Canadian cities; numerous digital properties including Workopolis, and eyeReturn; and Metroland Media, one of Canada’s leading community media companies with operations throughout Ontario in newspapers, digital properties, flyer distribution, printing, consumer shows, magazines, and directories. Torstar recently acquired a 56% interest in Vertical Scope Holdings Inc., a vertically focussed digital media company that owns and operates more than 600 consumer enthusiast online and premium content sites across North America. The sites attract more than 80 million unique visitors and generate more than 500 million page views a month.
David, appointed President and Chief Executive Officer and to the Torstar Board of Directors in 2009, has worked throughout Torstar since 1986, serving as Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer from 2005 to 2009. He has served in senior leadership positions throughout the operations after beginning his career in Torstar’s corporate office. David is a graduate of Queen’s University from which he received a B. Comm. in 1980. In 1982 he obtained his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation.
