Brenda Hogan serves as the Director of Investments with the Ontario Capital Growth Corporation (OCGC) overseeing OCGC’s venture capital initiatives. OCGC was created to promote and develop the venture capital sector in Ontario, so that more high-potential technology companies have access to the capital needed to grow and prosper. OCGC’s investment activities have resulted in over $500 million invested in market leading technology companies including Shopify and ecobee.
Brenda has held senior roles in corporate development, finance, and strategic investing with Bell Aliant, EY, the Business Development Bank of Canada, and a software start-up. Brenda is known as a strategic thinker who brings a hybrid of private and public sector experience and perspectives to bear on opportunities and issues.
Brenda is Co-Chair of Canadian Women in Private Equity (CWPE); sits on the inaugural board of the Youth in Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) and Chairs the Finance and Audit Committee; and serves with the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA) as a member of the Research and Benchmarking Committee. Previously, Brenda sat on the Board of Women in Capital Markets, serving as Chair of the Governance Committee; is a past President of the Junior League of Toronto; sat on the Board of the Geneva Centre for Autism and Chaired the Human Resources and Nominating Committee; and is a founding member of the Royal Ontario Museum Young Patrons Circle (YPC).
Brenda graduated with an MBA in finance from Dalhousie University. She has completed the Institute of Corporate Directors SME Board Effectiveness Program and has received leadership training from the Ivey School of Business.
