STUDY GROUPS FALL 2012
Please check back in August for the fall 2012 Study Group schedules. The study group program offers students taking LBST 1B02, LBST 1B03, and LBST 1B06 a chance to work on the course material in small groups.
During study group sessions you will:
- Compare lecture notes
- Review important concepts together
- Discuss the readings
- Prepare for exams and assignments
- Share study tips and strategies
If you're not sure that you have understood a concept, this is your chance to discuss it with other students. If you did understand, explaining the concept to someone else will help you retain it. The study groups are lead by OCAD U students who are familiar with the course content and who have received special training in learning and study strategies. They are not experts in the field. Their job is just to help the group figure out what to work on in each session and to keep the discussion on track.
If you have concerns about the course or specific questions about the requirements, please speak with your instructor or teaching assistant. Study groups are optional and there is no grade assigned.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Study Group Program
Q. Do I have to register?
A. Not at all. Just show up!
Q. Do I have to attend all the sessions?
A. Attend when you want but consider that students get more out study groups when they come throughout the semester, rather than just before exams.
Q. Do I have to attend the study group?
A. Attending study groups is totally optional.
Q. Will I receive a grade for attending the study group?
A. There are no grades given for attending study groups and we do not report your attendance to the instructor. However, most students find that participating in the study group helps them do better in the course.
