1. I had to be away from school for a prolonged period. How do I get consideration from the University so that my grades/finances won't be negatively impacted?

If you were sick or other circumstances prevented you from attending school/completing your coursework as required at OCAD University, then you are able to submit a petition in order to request consideration and relief from regular procedure.

2. How does the grading system work at OCAD U?

Grades at OCAD University are assigned as numerical values based upon percentages from 0 - 100%. An incomplete grade may be assigned if a student has not completed sufficient course requirements.

3. How does OCAD U take into consideration religious observances?

OCAD U acknowledges the pluralistic nature of its community and agrees that accommodation will be made to students who experience a conflict between a religious obligation and scheduled tests, exams, attendance requirements or other required participation.

4. I didn't realize attendance was so important. How many unexcused allowances am I allowed?

The University expects students to attend classes and participate in them by the standards established by the teaching faculty and as stated in the Grading policy.

It should be noted that, as per regulation, a student with three or more unexcused absences may be assigned a failing grade for that course.

5. I'm really trying to graduate with an honours distinction. What are the guidelines?

Students in undergraduate degree programs who have achieved an overall average of 80% and no grade lower than 70% will graduate with distinction. This status will be recorded on the students' academic transcript and diploma.
