PANDEMIC (H1N1) INFLUENZA UPDATE
Date: July 14, 2010
While the WHO remains in pandemic alert, reports from Public Health Agency of Canada are that overall influenza activity in Ontario has been low since the beginning of 2010.
The Director, Risk Management and Manager, Health & Wellness Centre continue to monitor the situation and will recommend reactivation of the PPT if required.
In the interim, Toronto Public Health continues to recommend prevention as a good defence against the spread of influenza:
- Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water (or use waterless hand sanitizers).
- Cover your mouth and nose and sneeze or cough into a tissue or your sleeve, not your hands. Dispose of the tissue and wash your hands.
- If you believe that you have a contagious infection, contact your health care provider. Do not come to campus until your health care provider advises that it is safe to do so.
