1. Will my mailbox and password be changed?

Your mailbox and its settings stay untouched. Also your password and email quota will remain the same as well.

2. How do I reconfigure Outlook /Apple Mail on my OCAD University office computer?

For Outlook users – You should not have to change anything in Outlook for your office computer.

For Apple Mail users - You will need to change the email address that is listed in your account settings from the current username@ocad.ca or username@faculty.ocad.ca to the new username@ocadu.ca or username@faculty.ocadu.ca address.

3. How do I reconfigure my Outlook / Apple Mail at home?

For Outlook users – You should not have to change anything for Outlook

For Apple Mail users - You will need to change the email address that is listed in your account settings from the current username@ocad.ca or username@faculty.ocad.ca to the new username@ocadu.ca or username@faculty.ocadu.ca address.

4. How do I reconfigure my Blackberry or iPhone?

For Blackberry users – You will not have to change anything

For iPhone users – In “account settings” change your email address to the new email address

5. How do I log onto Outlook Web Access (OWA) remotely?

The OWA URL will be available from both https://Outlook.ocad.ca (current) and https://Outlook.ocadu.ca (new)

6. Is there a plan and timeline to decommission ocad.ca email address?

After approximately December 2013 you will no longer be receiving email at the username@ocad.ca or username@faculty.ocad.ca email addresses. Advance notification will be provided regarding de-activation of receipt of email services at the ocad.ca email addresses.

7. Will it affect any LISTSERV groups I am a member of and have registered with using the ocad.ca address?

There will be no interruption in receiving messages from any such LISTSERV’s until the decommissioning of the ocad.ca email addresses, expected to take place in approximately 24 months. However, it is highly recommended that OCAD U email account holders pro-actively identify and notify LISTSERV administrators as to the change of email address since replies or posts to LISTSERV’s, that you send, will likely be rejected when using the new username@ocadu.ca or username@faculty.ocadu.ca addresses. Once the LISTSERV administrator updates your email address to the new address full participation in LISTSERV’s should be restored.

8. Are there online services and sites I need to update with my new email address?

Any web based service that you registered with using your username@ocad.ca or username@faculty.ocad.ca address should be updated. Examples would include e-post, Facebook/Twitter, institutional Grand & Toy purchasing portal, Blackberry billing, etc. Although there should be no disruption for these web based services, next time you log on to those services you should update your email information after the new email accounts have been activated in order to minimize inconsistency across multiple services. Receipt of emails sent from these web based services will be impacted once the current ocad.ca email accounts are no longer receiving emails. As indicated this should be completed before OCAD U IT Services decommissions receipt of emails at the current addresses, planned to take place within 24 months.

9. Can I choose which email address as the “Send” email address?

No. Although you have both ocad.ca and ocadu.ca email addresses to receive email, your sending address will be the new one (@ocadu.ca or @faculty.ocadu.ca).

10. Is there a recommended notification procedure regarding my address change for external contacts?

IT Services is investigating solutions to help facilitate contact updates. However the simplest method is to include the following statement below your current email signature:

“Please note OCAD University has changed institutional email addresses and my new email address is (your new email address inserted here). Please update your contact information for me accordingly. Thank you.”
