Eligibility

Administrative staff and managers

  • Permanent administrative staff and managers working at least 21 hours per week for at least 36 weeks over each 12-month period

Faculty

  • Tenured, tenure-track, probationary, continuing and CLTA faculty

Academic staff

  • Probationary and permanent technicians and academic counsellors

Group life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) and long-term disability are mandatory for all eligible employees. Extended health and dental coverage are mandatory for all eligible employees unless they have coverage elsewhere. All group benefits are effective the first day of the month following their date of permanent employment.

Effective October 1, 2016, claims incurred after this date may be submitted to Sun Life online or by mail.

Transitioning from Great West Life to Sun Life

Any claims that are incurred up to and including September 30, 2016, must be submitted through Great West Life for reimbursement. Great West Life has provided a 90-day grace period to reimburse outstanding claims; however, please submit as soon as possible to factor in both postal and processing times.

Effective October 1, 2016, your online account with Great West Life will no longer be active and you will be required to submit paper claim forms by mail to:
