MINORS
Welcome to our New Ecology of Learning (NEL) at OCAD U. The NEL gives students more flexibility to construct a program of study that responds to their particular interests and needs. As a first step we introduced studio and Liberal Studies minors into the curriculum in March 2008.
Minors give students the opportunity to pursue a secondary field of study without compromising their major field. They consist of 3.0 to 5.0 credits in disciplinary or interdisciplinary subjects. Students taking a minor will normally complete 20.0 credits for their major and an additional 1.0 to 3.0 credits to complete all the courses required for their minor. What are the advantages of a minor?
- Adding a secondary field of study provides students with multidisciplinary breadth without compromising disciplinary depth
- Many employers are looking for graduates with multidisciplinary backgrounds
- Students considering graduate school will find a minor of benefit

*Students declaring a Liberal Arts & Sciences minor are strongly urged to complete the full complement of studio courses for their major, including all studio electives or expansion studios.
