Our faculty members are working PRACTITIONERS WHO LOVE TO TEACH, sharing their real-life experiences of art, design, digital media and the liberal arts and sciences. They are also academics, PURSUING RESEARCH that brings new knowledge and approaches into the classroom or studio. Gifts will enable the Faculty of Design to implement new and expanded ways of teaching, learning and interacting. They will also foster global citizenship through international opportunities; build, broaden and brand research capacity, including seed funding for faculty; develop commercialization and knowledge dissemination expertise; and build collaborative relationships in Canada and abroad.

Gifts will support space and equipment updates, professional development opportunities, and specialized programming in Graduate Studies to ensure OCAD U`s continued leadership in art and design graduate education. Your support will also enable our researchers to connect internationally with our partners in India, China, Brazil and elsewhere, and provide funding for the mobility of faculty members and their research assistants.
Our researchers employ art and design methodologies and technologies as a lens to focus on eight areas of emerging research strength: Healthy and Inclusive Environments; Sustainable Futures; Material Innovation, Aesthetics and Communication; Creative Economies; Digital Futures; Art & Design Education; Aboriginal Visual Culture; and Critical studies. Your gifts will help our researchers maintain leadership in furthering the practice, methodology, and understanding of practice-based research, and also help foster creativity, imagination, discovery and ultimately, innovation.
In collaboration with private sector partners and university researchers OCAD University is leading a study of public art in Toronto. The results of the study will be presented to various communities, including arts, developers, and to the City of Toronto, to better inform and help create scenarios for expanding public art opportunities for Toronto. To help support this initiative, gifts may be made to the university which will help fund the study.
