The design and location of the Open Space Gallery create an accessible nexus with industry, academic institutions and community partners.

The Open Space Gallery fulfills three functions for OCAD U:

  1. It operates as an open accessible laboratory space in which participatory testing and engagement with test subjects can be coordinated for research projects, in particular for the current CFI-ORF funded Inclusive Design Institute.
  2. The Open Space Gallery functions as an open flexible workshop and networking event space that supports and strengthens research and graduate studies.
  3. Most significantly, the Open Space Gallery functions as an exhibition gallery that can be easily transformed to showcase graduate and faculty projects, and external research and digital media art and design installations.
